Once logged in, you can proofread your article by starting a new document by clicking on “New”.
Thereafter, paste your existing text into the editor. Then, it will ask you to set your goals for the text to be proofread.
Step 3: Set Goals
Set your goals according to your audience and their needs. Then confirm the changes.
Note: In the Grammarly free version, you can not select any other domain than General.
Now, it will ask you to type the text or upload the content to automatically analyze your text and highlight any potential errors.

Simply, type or paste the text here and see the magic.

In the below picture, you see that I’ve typed text with many mistakes and the tool has detected them. But before moving to the correction area, you need to see the right side to know how Grammarly shows you the correction.
So, here in the top right corner, it shows you the overall score of your text after proofreading. In the above case, it is 81; which means there are some areas where the content needs to improve in terms of grammar and punctuation errors.
Below this, the 4 Goals are the ones that you selected before typing the text. The tool basically proofreads your content based on those goals.
Below this, it shows you the suggestions needed to correct your text. Here in this demo content, it gives 5 alerts related to spelling mistakes. For instance, it corrected the misspelled word “grammer” to “Grammar“.
Here in the next suggestion, it rephrases the sentence for clarity. This means the text is vague or unclear and that’s why it is suggested to rewrite the sentence for a clear meaning.
Now, comes the next important feature of Grammarly; the plagiarism checker. It scans the whole content and checks if the content is duplicated or not.
If the content is duplicated, it provides you a detailed report such as how much content is plagiarised and what is the source of copied content.
